The Almeiras reservoir, key to the supply of water in the A Coruña area, begins to operate | Radio Coruña

EMALCSA has launched the new Almeiras water tank this morning, in Culleredo. An infrastructure that will improve the supply system after an investment that has exceeded 4 million euros. The new Almeiras water reservoir has a circular plant 28 meters in diameter, 9.5 meters high and 6,100 cubic meters of capacity.

The new depot will serve 350,000 residents of A Coruña, but also Arteixo, Cambre, Culleredo and Oleiros. The importance of this infrastructure lies in the amount of storage it enables in a place that is the head of the service. For this deposit they will spend daily 85,000 cubic meters of water, is the equivalent of 40 Olympic swimming pools.

From the water company they explain that this work is designed for the present, but also to guarantee the future, especially the metropolitan area.

With the entry into operation of this tank it is possible that throughout the day the residents of these towns will notice the cloudy water when they open the taps.
