New York Police have announced that they have my in exam the man suspected of attacking a French tourist in the throat last week. The 28-year-old suspect was arrested after four days on the run. It is an officer who would have spotted him in the street on Monday afternoon, informs us the New York Post.
A man known to the police
The victim was leaving a restaurant with his partner on February 14 at around 11 a.m. (local time), when he was suddenly attacked with a knife by an individual who had fled. Severely injured in the throat, he was rushed to hospital where he underwent a tracheotomy (surgery that involves opening the trachea to improve ventilation). Originally from Avesnois, his girlfriend, who studied in Valenciennes, gave us her testimony on this Valentine’s Day which turned into a nightmare. His companion is still hospitalized.
Wanted after the attack, Khalief Young was already known to the police, in particular for possession of firearms. He was also imprisoned from 2015 to 2017 for having assaulted a store employee in Harlem.
