Shortly after modernization of the very successful Q5 U.S Audi in September it also introduced a completely new body variant – Q5 Sportback. The stylish SUV coupe, which is the answer to the competing GLC and X4, is now also coming in the top version. In the case of this model line, this is traditionally represented by the SQ5, which thus newly enters the offer also in the Sportback version.
We don’t have to walk around a hot mess and let’s just say that in Europe, too, Audi relies exclusively on diesel engines. Under the hood of the new SQ5 Sportback is the engine 3.0 V6 TDI with 251 kW / 341 hp and a torque of 700 Nm. Even in this case, it is true that it is a mild hybrid. The SUV is thus equipped with a 48V network, a starter generator and an integrated lithium-ion battery.

The engine provides the maximum torque value in the speed range from 1,750 to 3,250 rpm. As a result, the 3.0 TDI engine gives the most powerful version acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.1 seconds. The maximum speed is electronic limited to 250 km / h. As Audi itself reveals, a sound generator in the exhaust system was used to achieve a rich and deep sound.
The novelty is that the SQ5 Sportback is already receiving electrically driven turbocharger (EAV “compressor”), which is supposed to help especially at low speeds, when the classic turbo is not yet efficient. Of course, there is a standard quattro drive (Torsen) and an 8-speed tiptronic automatic transmission. On request, Audi offers an air chassis or a rear sports differential.

Like the classic SQ5, the SQ5 Sportback is not very different from the standard Q5 Sportback with a sports optical package. Again, the differences need only be sought in the details. The front and rear bumpers were given a subtly more pronounced division, with up to 4 tailpipes added at the rear. But they are most likely blinded. There are specific body paints and sports wheel disc designs to choose from (20 “and above).
Of course, the top model is also equipped full-LED lights, but for an additional fee it is possible to reach for Matrix-LED lighting technology. OLED technology is not missing at the back. Its essence is 3 parts, each with six segments, thanks to which it is possible to change the graphics of the light.
