Men’s UP TV Live
Do you want Sonoro but not going to use the CD player of a Meisterstück especially? Good thing, the German specialist has thought of you. Equally elegant and versatile, the Sonoro Primus is a living room speaker that is both understated in style and powerful in sound. Design, performance, connectivity, what is the all-in-one speaker worth?
Sono Prime: design and construction

Let’s start with unboxing. The Sonoro Primus is delivered to us in a beautiful, solid and protective packaging, well wedged in polystyrene supports and stored in a fabric bag. Inside the box, the speaker comes with its two antennas (a classic one for FM radio, and a rubberized digital one for WLAN reception), its user manual, its power cable, and on its remote control. Note also the presence of a pair of fabric gloves (it’s chic, but maybe a little “too much”). The enclosure itself is a beautiful object boasting impeccable design and assembly. The Sonoro Primus displays a very successful retro-chic design, with its two speaker grilles on either side of the central control panel. The few buttons on the front (on / off, DAB, iRadio, Bluetooth, AUX, streaming) are accompanied by a complete interface with a small 2.8 inch TFT display screen. A 3.5mm headphone output is present, but we didn’t use it. The set is backed by a remote control, taking over all the controls. Placed on its 4 feet, the speaker is sufficiently raised to deploy good bass (we will come back to this). The rear panel presents all the connections (USB, RJ45, RCA inputs and outputs, optical). Our only small regret is on the side of the screen, which we would have liked a more qualitative display than the very dated pixelated look, and especially that the text is not cut when it is too long (especially since it does not scroll to display the rest of the message). Moreover, our Primus is as chic as it is well integrated into the interior decoration!
Functions and ergonomics

A very complete connectionCredit Photo – Nass M. pour Men’s UP
Once the speaker is installed, all you have to do is choose our source to enjoy the music. To make sure it was easy to connect and use, we tested everything. FM radio? It just happens. The smartphone in Bluetooth? Pairing as fast as with any pair of headphones or other classic wireless speakers. Web radio? One press of the WPS button on our Wi-Fi router and you’re done. Then all you have to do is navigate using the buttons on the Sonoro Primus, or remotely with the remote control in order to choose our content. Only downside, the speaker did not automatically associate with our iPhone when we turned it off and then on again, and it was necessary to redo the Bluetooth pairing. Nothing too restrictive, but to report all the same for the rather fussy. In each of the listening modes, the Sonoro Primus demonstrated stability without ever suffering from a jump in sound or untimely disconnection / search for signals. The physical controls, both on the speaker and on the remote, are very responsive. Small nice detail: the screen displays the date and time when the speaker is on standby, rather practical on a daily basis.
Performances audio: German quality

The subwoofer under the speakerCredit Photo – Nass M. pour Men’s UP
Behind its speaker grilles and under its hand-sanded wooden cabinet, the Sonoro Primus is equipped with a 2-way audio system with 5.25-inch subwoofer, giving below the speaker all in one. Thanks to its 3D sound and equalization functions, but also and above all to its high-end audio equipment supported by 5 power amps for a total of 120 W, the speaker delivers a rich and enveloping sound, very immersive in music classic, very punchy on the registers loaded with bass, very incisive on the instrumental and vocal flights. From the small living room to the large double living room, our Primus shines with its ability to deploy sound much further than its relatively compact size suggests. Placed at a height of 1.10 m in our library, it is a daily treat. No doubt: the Sonoro Primus makes a very good copy, while being less expensive than its predecessor Meisterstück for equivalent audio performance. An all-in-one audio system as efficient as it is compact, which only needs a small price reduction to make it an obvious choice in the market. At UPtech, it’s validated! Price: 699 €
