The Alicante Theater Show chooses the five authors of the Current Dramaturgies Program

In this ninth edition the chosen authors, who will receive 5.000 euros each one, have been Pedro Cantalejo Caldeiro, Carla Kristina Martínez Nyman, Astrid Menasanch Tobieson, Eva Mir Piqueras and Laura Judit García Ortiz. The election highlights the increase in the number and quality of authors, since of the five, four are women, who have been emerging in recent years.

The Committee has been chaired by Fernando Ceron, deputy director general of theater of the INAEM, and composed of Fefa Noia, deputy director of the National Dramatic Center; Javier De Dios, director of the Documentation Center for Performing Arts and Music, and Guillermo Heras, director of the Spanish Theater Show of Contemporary Authors.

The court has taken into account criteria such as the cultural interest of the project, its contribution to the development and innovation of current scenic languages, as well as the viability of staging the text from the point of view of production, in addition to professional merits and artistic of the candidates.

Contract with the INAEM

The authors whose projects have been selected will sign creation contracts with INAEM for a value of 5,000 euros each. The resulting texts will be delivered before September 25, 2021 and will subsequently be hosted on the website of the Spanish Theater Exhibition of Contemporary Authors for promotion, where the finalist works of the eight previous editions of the Current Dramaturgy Development Program are also located for its on-line and free reading.

In previous calls for the program, prominent creators have been chosen who have subsequently established themselves in our artistic scene. Names such as those of Antonio Rojano, Alberto Conejero, José Manuel Mora, María Velasco, Mar Gómez González, Paco Bezerra, Julián Fuentes Reta, Lola Blasco, Carolina Africa, Almudena Rodríguez-Pantanella, Paco Gámez, Lucía Miranda, Paula Llorens and María San Miguel, among others.
