The Alicante Feminist Platform summons the State of emergency in the locality. The appearance of a new herd and the shameful data of the month of July, in which a woman was killed every other day, are turning these months into a ‘black summer’. Therefore, the platform calls a demonstration for next September 20, where they try to: “illuminate the darkness with violet light”.
Starting today, Alicante feminists have their sights set on the demonstration on September 20. The main characteristic of the mobilization will be the presence of violet light. Explains it Alejandra Bou, coordinator of the Alicante Feminist Platform.
The group claims that already “there are no minutes of silence“And it is that, last July, 13 women were killed at the hands of their partners or ex-partners and August does not start differently. The murder of a 21-year-old woman in Hospitalet and the attempted sexual assault at a Vitoria gas station have led the Alicante Feminist Platform to this situation.
One of the main demands of the group is the recovery of public space. The platform considers that certain “right-wing” political parties want to deprive women of their rights, isolating them from the streets. Yolanda Diaz, a spokesperson for the platform, also invites the men to attend the rally.
