The Aldi supermarket arrives in Casalmaggiore

CASALMAGGIORE – The rumor had been circulating for a while, but it has always lacked, and still lacks, the official status. But now the name Aldi – the well-known food chain – it is written on the building material that was deposited in the former Cobra area, at the corner between via Galluzzi and the provincial Sabbionetana, the last free plot of the Plan for the Crocette production facilities where work is underway for the construction of a retail park, which means “business park”.

In May, the plot of land, covering an area of ​​6500 square meters, underwent excavation and cleaning works and was fenced. The client is FM Immobiliare srl of Castiglione delle Stiviere, the company is Medini Costruzioni srl, also of Castiglione. Now materials destined for Aldi Casalmaggiore have appeared on the site, as can be seen from the outside: 13 pallets containing 60 by 60 panels.

The whole operation provides for parking and lighting at the expense of the property, for an amount of 200 thousand euros, with a surety for additional works, equal to about 300 thousand euros, for the benefit of the community, as emerged in the city council: works for 220 thousand euros that solve the critical issues present at the intersection of via Guerrazzi, via Roma, via Romani and via del Lavoro and arrangement of the damaged terracotta paths in piazza Turati. Another 80 thousand euros, in addition to the 220 thousand, will have to be used for proximity trade.

The Aldi group, which had its origins in Essen in Germany in 1913, has gradually expanded in various European countries but also in China and, since 2018, in Italy. In Lombardy he recently created a store in San Giuliano Milanese, Saronno, Monica del Garda and a second store in Brescia. There are over one hundred stores throughout Italy – in Trentino Alto Adige, Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia Romagna and Friuli Venezia Giulia – and they increase with an average of three new openings per month.

Since the first inaugurations, Aldi has relentlessly continued the project to build and expand an increasingly widespread network of stores, with organic growth in the regions of Northern Italy. From the Municipality the bowls have always remained sewn in the absence of an official communication. Aldi’s press office, questioned on the subject in May, had glossed over: «We are grateful for your interest in Aldi. If we have updates, it will be our pleasure to keep you informed on the subject ». Now the mystery has been revealed by the writings that everyone can see.
