The album ‘The Voices of Change’ released by the USA with the participation of Latvian musicians is now available in Latvia

The CD album of the project “Women Warriors: The Voices of Change” recorded in Latvia and released in the USA in February this year is now also available in Latvia. The recording was attended by outstanding Latvian musicians and the Riga Dome Girls’ Choir “Tiara”, conducted by Aira Birziņa, the portal “Delfi” is informed by the album’s distributors in Latvia – the company “MicRec”.

Nineteen great composers, including Lolita Ritmanis, Nathalie Bonin, Miriam Cutler, Anne Kathrin Dern, Isolde Fair, Sharon Farber, Penka Kouneva Kouneva), Starr Parodi scores were recorded at the Latvian Radio 1st studio in Riga in March 2020. The Riga Studio Orchestra, conducted by Edgars Saxons, consisted of 75 musicians from the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Latvian National Ballet and Opera Orchestra, the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonietta Riga, the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and Perpetuum Ritmico. The head of the studio was Māris Briežkalns.

The Riga recording team consisted of Mark Mattson, Varis Kurmiņš, Augusfīns Delle, Māris Lācis, Ivo Tauriņš and Pāvels Mališkins. The artistic director of the project is Amy Andersson, the producers are Mark Mattson and Lolita Ritmanis.

It has already been reported that the Riga Dome Girls’ Choir “Tiara” with chief conductor Aira Birziņš participated in Lolita Ritmanis’s song “We Rise” with the words of Amy Andersson.

The main event of the project was the opportunity for Amy Andersson to meet with the Riga Dome Girls’ Choir “Tiara” and Aira Birzins. “I was thrilled to finally meet Aira and the talented young women in person. I had the great honor of working with the wonderful musicians, choir and recording team in Riga. What an inspiring and beautiful city! The compositions of “Women Warriors: The Voices of Change” have been used in an inspiring documentary honoring global activists fighting for social justice, human and civil rights, environmental issues, minority rights, gender equality and the right of every girl to education, strength and heroism. This original documentary highlights the lives of more than sixty-five female activists, allowing women and girls to see the power and depth of their collective investment, attesting to the lives of women who took justice issues into their own hands and changed the course of history.

The documentary continues to gain international acclaim. It has won laurels at the following competitions and film festivals: “Shorty Social Good Awards 2020 GOLD” in the category “Best Live”, “The Chicago Indie Film Awards” for Best Composer and Best Documentary “LA Independent Women Film Awards 2021”. Official selections include: “The Impact DOCS Awards”, “The IndieFEST Film Awards”, “Montreal Independent Film Festival”, it is also a finalist in “The Austin International Arts Festival”, “Toronto Independent Film Festival of Cift”, “4th Dimension Independent” Film Festival ”and“ Sweden Film Awards ”.
