León airport ‘made its August’ by receiving 11,007 passengers in the summer month par excellence, which represented 11.6% more than the same month last year. The figure is even more significant when compared to August 2019, the pre-covid year, since the increase in passengers rose by 64.9%, according to Aena statistics. A record.
This strong pull has allowed the airport facility to maintain its position in the annual statistics, since it maintains the number of users in the months of January to August with 42,585 passengers, which means a slight decrease compared to 2023 of -0.6%.
The airports in the Aena network in the Community reached 36,003 users in August out of a total of 32.11 million nationally and have accumulated 196,718 so far this year, compared to the 208.16 million in Spain, which in this case has increased by 10.1%.
Specifically, and according to the data provided by Aena, Salamanca, with a cumulative total of 14,536 passengers until August, has been the only airport in the Community that grew in these figures compared to the first eight months of 2023, with a slight increase of 0.1%. In the other three airports there was a loss of passengers compared to the cumulative total of 2023, in León it was minimal compared to Burgos, which leads this decline, with 28.3% less and a cumulative total of 2,144 passengers until August; followed by Valladolid, with 2.2% less and 137,453 passengers in total.
In monthly terms, the Leonese airport gained 11.6%, as did Burgos, with the most notable increase of 20.5% to 288 passengers. Valladolid only grew 3.8% to 20,835 passengers, while Salamanca airport, with 3,903 passengers, registered a 5.5% decrease and was the only one to stagnate in a key month.
