The United States ambassador, Ken Salazar, assured this Friday that his government and that of Mexico promote “a joint vision, based on goals” to consolidate North America as “an economic engine.”
On a working visit to Sonora, together with the governors of that state, Alfonso Durazo, and of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, he asserted that with joint work between both countries security will be reinforced and “business environments” will improve, according to a statement released by his office.
“By working together, we improve business environments, reinforce shared security and prepare the next generations through education and academic exchanges in STEM areas to lead a more competitive and prosperous future in North America,” said the envoy of the White House.
He noted that the region that makes up Sonora and Arizona “is an example of cooperation between our countries, integrating the private sector, universities and governments to take advantage of key sectors such as renewable energy, nearshoring, the semiconductor industry and electromobility.”
“Here the benefits that arise from our bilateral integration and the T-MEC materialize,” he declared.
“This joint vision, based on the goals that we promote with the Government of Mexico, strengthens supply chains, creates investment and employment opportunities, and promotes the well-being of our populations, consolidating the region as an economic engine of North America. ”, he assured.
He added that the private sector is crucial for the development and prosperity of this region and highlighted that the Arizona-Sonora Commission contributes to promoting development in strategic areas, such as security and safe corridors, border modernization, infrastructure, tourism, environment, water, among others.
