One of the topics being discussed these days with the Americans is the transformation of the project company “NPP “Kozloduy” – New capacities”. In it, First Atomic will keep 70%, and “Westinghouse” will acquire the remaining 30%. After that, with the help of the Americans, funding will be sought for the construction of Unit VII using their AP-1000 technology. According to Nikolov, the fact that “Westinghouse” will own 30% of the project company means that the Americans are committed to finding 1/3 of the necessary funds for the project. After Block VII in Kozloduy is built, the Americans will exit the project company, which will then have to transform into its operator. According to Nikolov, this is normal, since “Westinghouse” builds nuclear power plants all over the world, but is not their operator anywhere. Then the 30 percent American share will be bought by Kozloduy NPP, BEH or another company, Nikolov explained. In all scenarios, the new block will remain Bulgarian property.
