The agreement was signed between the farmers, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture. This was announced today at a briefing by the Prime Minister Academician Nikolay Denkov, Minister Kiril Vatev and branch organizations that are members of the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber (GARDEN).
“What we have added to the text that they had sent to their organizations is a single additional point, according to which we are forming a group that will check on a monthly basis how the agreement is being implemented. It will discuss all issues that seem important from the point of view of the development of the sector, the preparation of laws, the financial provision of measures and everything else that is important for farmers,” said Prime Minister Denkov.
The Minister of Agriculture, Kiril Vatev, added that representatives of other branch organizations can participate in the group in question.
Chairmen of the branch organizations in BAK thanked the Prime Minister, the Minister and the director of the DF “Agriculture” Georgi Takhov for the constructive dialogue that led to the signing of the agreement.
The demands that three branch organizations presented to the Ministry of Agriculture today (see here) practically duplicate what is laid down in the agreement, replied Kiril Vatev to a question. He invited any association that has legislative initiatives and constructive ideas to order in the ministry. The order in which the meetings are held is through a letter to the ministry, which is answered with an invitation to a conversation on a certain day and time. The Minister of Agriculture stated that there are no branch officials who are prohibited from visiting the ministry, but order should be observed.
Asked about the financial parameters in the agreement, the executive director of the “Agriculture” fund said that he could not indicate specific numbers before there was confirmation of the notification from the EC to this state aid.
On the occasion of tomorrow’s protest, promised by the Initiative Committee, which includes 26 organizations, Academician Denkov said that everyone has the right to protest within the law. According to him, all issues are reflected in the agreement. He advised Kiril Vatev to give one day to the dissatisfied organizations to read the agreement, and then meet with them. Regarding the requested resignation of the Minister of Agriculture, the Prime Minister stated that this should be attributed to him and Mrs. Maria Gabriel.
