The Ágreda and Ólvega treatment plant will be modernized with an investment of three million euros | SER Soria

Three million euros, contributed by the Board, the municipalities of Ólvega and Ágreda and the EU will improve the wastewater station that serves both towns in Moncayo Soriano, according to the agreement signed this Monday by the Minister of Development and Environment, Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones. After signing the agreement with both municipalities, the counselor has maintained, in statements to journalists, that we must return to the activity to weave the future and hope of the Community and he has defended that the purification of wastewater is an “unavoidable” priority for the Board, and the Chairman of the Board will make a special mention of it in the debate on the state of the region, with the aim of not having a river with discharges.

Suárez-Quiñones has assured that the treatment plant had shortcomings derived from the new realities and the malfunction, with leakage of parasitic waters, which has forced an adaptation. “There are more than three million that we put the administrations, that show the commitment to improve the quality of wastewater discharge to modernize and adapt the WWTP “, he pointed out. Suárez Quiñones highlighted the commitment of the administrations, of different political colors, in an environmentally prominent province.

The agreement includes three projects, with a global budget of three million euros, that the Board and the ERDF will co-finance 80 percent, and the remaining 20 percent will be contributed by both municipalities. The projects include the works to adapt the wastewater treatment plant to comply with the Community Directive 91/271 / EEC, adapting the discharge to the requirements demanded in sensitive areas, the elimination of parasitic waters from the Ólvega sewage network and the same in the Ágreda sanitation network, and this in order to avoid the dilution of the wastewater and thus adjust the inflow to the treatment plant.

For their part, the Ólvega and Ágreda city councils must provide the construction project for the actions to eliminate parasitic waters from their respective sanitation networks, comply with environmental procedures that legally proceed, make available to the Ministry the land of necessary occupation for the execution of the works, taking charge of the expropriation, if necessary.

The Ágreda City Council will be in charge of the operation, maintenance and conservation of the adaptation works of the treatment plant, once delivered by the Ministry, although must allow inspection and technical control to the Ministry, which will have the right to timely information in detail. The mayor of Ólvega, Eli Jiménez (PP), has expressed the importance of signing the agreement, “very productive and good for everyone”, with the aim of correcting any damage that may exist in the treatment plant and in the works to eliminate the parasitic waters.

For his part, the Mayor of Ágreda, Jesús Manuel Alonso (PSOE), thanked the Minister of Public Works for his visit, who has acknowledged his involvement and commitment to the Community and the people who have participated in the development of the agreement, including the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation. “Unity is very important to exist in society and in institutions.
