The Ages of Music Exhibition at José Luis Perales Auditorium Theater in Cuenca

The ‘José Luis Perales’ Auditorium Theater hosts from today, January 18 and until this Saturday, the 20th, the exhibition ‘The Ages of Music’, organized by the Cuenca City Council through the City of Cuenca Culture Foundation in conjunction with the Musical Instruments with History Foundation and which is open to both the general public and visits by schoolchildren.

An exhibition about which Mayor Darío Dolz has highlighted that “it offers the viewer the opportunity to discover our musical heritage throughout history”, as it has a variety of reconstructions of musical instruments from the 10th to the 18th centuries such as They are lyres, harpsichords and hurdy-gurdies, among others.

The first mayor inaugurated this exhibition together with the Councilor for Culture, María Ángeles Martínez, an event in which the activities coordinator of the Teatro Auditorio, Almudena Gómez, participated; and the curators of the exhibition, Emilio Villalba and Sara Marina, who have also been present on one of the guided tours for schoolchildren.

This exhibition also displays the pictorial and written sources that were used for the reconstruction of the instruments and has explanatory panels about their historical context and use.

Likewise, visitors can enjoy the microconcerts that accompany the guided tours, where they can see and hear these instruments performing the music of their time.

The hours to visit it are from Thursday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., while on Saturday it is from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
