Several hundred agents in the cleaning and sanitation sector in Paris entered the Town Hall, Tuesday, May 25, at the call of the CGT.
The agents intended, once again, to protest against the establishment of the 1,607 hours among the staff of the City of Paris, in application of the law of August 6, 2019 on the transformation of the public service, which put an end to the situations derogations in terms of working time, which local agreements allowed under a 2001 decree.
In a summary report from June 2018, the Court of Auditors underlined that the working time for the agents of the City amounted to 1,552 hours instead of 1,607. The unions and the City council disagree on the consequences of the application of the reform, the first fearing to lose “At least eight days” when the City speaks of a single lost day, according to Régis Vieceli, general secretary of the CGT-FTDNEEA union.
Demonstration Thursday
A delegation was received by the deputy in charge of human resources, Antoine Guillou. A demonstration at the call of the inter-union CGT-FO-UNSA-CFTC-UCP-FSU is scheduled for Thursday, assured Mr. Vieceli.
In a reaction sent to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the City emphasizes that it is not “At the initiative of this law” et dit en “Disapprove of the objectives, unfortunately having no choice but to implement it”. “Ways are being studied to adapt the impact of the law to the particular situation of employees of the Parisian public service. The City stands alongside its agents to provide them with the best possible support during the period ”, she says.
According to Mr. Vieceli, agents who came to support their colleagues outside the Town Hall were “Surrounded by the police forces, at the request of the prefecture, in conjunction with the City of Paris” and were fined 135 euros for illegal assembly. The departmental union FO brought, in a press release, its support for the action of the CGT.
