Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The sun, which is currently 4.6 billion years old, is likely to die in another 10 billion. Then what is the fate of Earth?
It is predicted that the Sun will change during this time. In another 5 billion years, the center of the solar system will become a red giant with a shrinking core and an expanding exterior reaching Mars.
In the process the Earth will be swallowed, but with a record of life at that time still exists. Because some predict life on this planet will only have 1 billion years left unless they can find a way out of the problem of increasing the brightness of the Sun which is increasing 10 percent per one billion years.
International researchers in 2018 predicted that the Sun would become a planetary Nebula, which is a bubble of glowing gas and dust.
“When a star dies, it ejects gas and dust known as a shroud into space. The shroud can take up half of the star’s mass. This will reveal a stellar core that at this point is still running, runs out of fuel and dies,” said the paper’s authors. University of Manchester and astrophysicist, Albert Ziljstar quoted from Science Alert, Thursday (14/10/2021).
After that, he said the hot core made a shining shroud for 10 thousand years. That’s when the Nebula came into view.
To predict the life cycles of a number of star types, the research team used data models. As well as to determine the brightness of the Nebula associated with the mass of different stars.
There is a prediction expressed by Futurism that when the Sun dies, Earth’s life is still ongoing. It is said that humans only realized the absence of the Sun 8.5 minutes later and by that time it had turned dark, the Earth would also be traveling between stars at a speed of 18 miles per second.
Celestial objects that reflect the light of the Sun such as the Moon and other planets no longer glow and turn dark.
Earth’s temperature has also fallen drastically. But it takes a long time to turn it into a solid freeze. The temperature will drop below 0 degrees during the first week. Next was at minus 100 degrees in the first year.
Then in a few million years it turns to minus 240 degrees with the Earth’s heat still working. The surviving humans would take advantage of this and move there.
Photosynthetic activity will also no longer exist and will be followed by plants being destroyed. While most species will survive briefly and end up extinct.
