Drivers who have reached the age of 70 will be forced to perform a medical check-up more quickly in order to receive the right to drive another car on public roads, according to a bill in Parliament Digi24. In addition, their car license will thus have a shorter validity.

The amendment to the road legislation was prepared in Parliament this month in the form of a bill. The initiator of the project has been re-elected as a parliamentarian so he will continue to support his project.
The draft thus establishes that, by derogation from the current rule, the administrative validity of driving licenses is 1 year in the case of persons who have reached the age of 70 years.
The limitation of validity is argued by the fact that statistical data indicate numerous road accidents caused by people who have reached the age of 70, due to the deteriorating health that occurs within the 10 years in which, today, their driver’s license is valid.
The limitation is thus seen as a guarantee of safety for both the elderly driver and other people in traffic.
