A Rai Cultura series in six episodes, dedicated to scientific dissemination and the various fields of knowledge: Alberto Angela’s new program “Noos – The adventure of knowledge” starts on Rai 1 on Thursday 29 June at 21.25. The first episode kicks off, as per tradition, with spectacular images of nature, with the story of a lioness and her cubs who fight for survival in the Serengeti plain, between Kenya and Tanzania.
Alberto Angela’s guest will be Harrison Ford who returns to play Indiana Jones in the fourth film of the series: a fictional archaeologist animated by the same curiosity that is the guiding spirit of “Noos”. Other guests will also be in the studio who will return several times during the series: astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti will lead an exciting journey into space starting in this first episode from take-off; the historian Alessandro Barbero, speaking of Napoleon, will show the role played by propaganda in the construction of a historical figure; the writer Carlo Lucarelli will tell the story of Prussian Blue, “the color of the devil”; the national secretary of Cicap Massimo Polidoro will warn against fake images created by artificial intelligence; twenty-five years after the invention of the “blue pill”, the sexologist Emmanuele Jannini will talk about our sexual behavior, while the nutritionist Elisabetta Bernardi will explain the mechanism of satiety and how to encourage it with an anti-hunger biscuit.
The adventure of knowledge, the subtitle of the programme, unfolds through a series of film services. Particular attention is paid to the theme of the environment: with an immersion in the depths of the Island of Giglio, it will be seen how a scientific team took care of the marine environment damaged following the sinking of the Costa Concordia.
Out of curiosity for everything that moves in the field of scientific research, “Noos” went to the Sant’Anna school in Pisa: here the artificial hand was created which responds to the movements thought by the patient; an achievement that borders on science fiction. And speaking of science fiction, you will see with Luca Perri how credible and probable there is in the “Star Wars” lightsaber.
The first episode of “Noos” also pays special tribute to the memory of a great scientist, Margherita Hack, who passed away on 29 June ten years ago. Following in her footsteps, Edwige Pezzulli will show “the cradle of the stars”, some extraordinary images of space obtained from the James Webb Space Telescope.
The field in which “Noos” operates is very vast with a particular eye to the future: what will be the new sources of well-being and prosperity? In the future it could be the Arctic that will transform itself from a fruitless expanse of ice to the new promised land for governments and energy multinationals. And, looking back: how come the bodies of seventeen nuns who died in the seventeenth century have been preserved mummified up to the present day in a monastery in Lazio?
Giuliana Galati and Ruggero Rollini will show some physics and chemistry phenomena that can also be observed at home, in particular those fluids that behave in a singular way, like liquids and like solids. And finally, writing: how did the letters of our alphabet come about? A fountain pen that has the voice of Paola Cortellesi will tell it.
