Earlier this month, Larian Studios announced that Baldur’s Gate heroes Minsk and Jaheira would be returning in Baldur’s Gate 3. Last week, the studio reportedthat Minska will be voiced by Matt Mercer, best known as the principal DM of Critical Role, and today confirmed that Tracey Wiles will take over the role of Jaheira.
Wiles herself announced it via her Twitter account, revealing that she started working on the role in January 2022.
“We are thrilled to have @TracyWiles as Jaheira in Baldur’s Gate 3!” Larian said in a retweet “We can’t wait for you to meet Jaheira in the game and see what an amazing job she has done.”
Wiles, an English actress who has had numerous roles in film, television, stage and especially radio: her Wikipedia page says that she has performed in over 300 plays and comedies, which would seem to make her the perfect candidate to voice video games.
In fact, prior to this game, she appeared in several video games, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Spellforce 3, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire and most recently Total War: Warhammer 3.
As with Mercer as Minsk, Wiles is not the original voice of Jaheira. Heidi Shannon’s last role was played in 2001, so it’s entirely possible that she’s retired. Larian reported that Beamdog tried to hire Shannon for Siege of Dragonspear in 2016 but couldn’t find her). However, judging by what little we’ve heard about Wiles as Jaheira in the recent Game Awards trailer, she definitely fits the bill.
Today also larian announced on finding testers for Baldur’s Gate 3 Acts 2 and 3. Larian said he is looking for testers in Ghent, Quebec, Barcelona, Selangor, Dublin and Guildford, where all of his studios appear to be located.
