The festivities of El Bollo 2022 already have a town crier. The person in charge of reading the traditional proclamation that begins the celebrations will be the actress Rossy de Palma, from Aviles
ancestry and summer upbringing, in an act that will take place on Sunday, April 17, at 12:00, in front of the Town Hall in Plaza de España.
bRosa Elena García Echave, Rossy de Palma, was born in Palma de Mallorca in 1964, because her parents, Carmen and Pedro, Avilesians from Llano Ponte and La Carriona, respectively, emigrated to the Balearic capital for work reasons. And even if she takes
Palma in her artistic name, has Avilés tattooed on her heart, because in the city she spent the time that cradles affections, the summers of her childhood.
Rossy is the middle of three siblings, and those who know her well highlight the overwhelming personality of a fighter and self-made woman, who always bears in mind the teachings transmitted to her by her parents and the women protagonists of her life, whose memory honored the receive in 2014 the Golden Sardine of the Sabugo Foundation ¡Tente Firme!.
“I come from a tremendous lineage of Asturian women of which I feel very proud,” she recalled with emotion at the award ceremony at the Palacio Valdés Theater. She grew up with them in those summers between Avilés, San Balandrán and
Salinas, in which she forged family and affective ties that still accompany her today.
Among other honors and awards, she was named Knight of Arts and Letters by the Republic of France in 2013, and in 2019 the Spanish Ministry of Culture awarded her the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts.
