Berta Riaza, actress of “Between darkness”, “Bohemian lights” or “Don Juan Tenorio”, has died this Sunday in Madrid, at the age of 94, as confirmed by the Film Academy on her social networks.
Riaza (Madrid, 1927) has been one of the great theater performers in Spain, although she combined her career in film and television.
His film career began with “Don Juan Tenorio” (1952) which would be followed by “Ten rifles await”, “The hiding places”, “Royal jelly”, “Between darkness” or “Bohemia lights”.
His last appearance on the big screen was in 2002, in the film “Octavia”, by Basilio Martín Patino, and he retired shortly after.
“The news of the death of Berta Riaza has moved all of us who belong to the world of cinema, theater and television. Berta is without a doubt one of the best actresses who has worked in our country,” said Fernando Méndez-Leite , President of the Academy.
Méndez Leite has highlighted his work with directors such as Miguel Picazo, Mario Camus, Pedro Almodóvar or Jaime Camino. “Personally, she was very fond of him. She was a wonderful person, as well as a unique actress.”
The mortal remains of the actress will be veiled at the M-30 Mortuary in Madrid.
