“This just happened in my district of Chinatown,” Niou said on Twitter, adding the video was posted by a constituent.

New York City Police later arrested and charged a man with hate crime after being arrested for the unprovoked attack on a 55-year-old Asian woman in the Chinatown area.

“Alexander Wright, 48, has been charged with assault, assault as a hate crime and criminal possession of a prohibited substance,” Detective Annette Shelton told Reuters in an email. Al Arabiya, Tuesday (1/6/2021).

Shelton said police arrested Wright for the attack and transferred him to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation.
