The Acting Mayor of Kupang appreciates the performance of PIN Polio Phase I Implementation Team

Suara-ntt.com, Kupang-The Acting Mayor of Kupang, Fahrensy Priestley Funay, opened the Monitoring and Evaluation activities for the Implementation of the National Polio Immunization Week (PIN) Round I 2024, at Kristal Hotel Kupang on Thursday, 01 August 2024.

This activity was conducted to evaluate the PIN Polio Round I which was launched and implemented from 23 July to 29 July 2024 at Posyandu-Posyandu in Kupang Town.

Also present were the Assistant for Government and Social Welfare of the Regional Secretary of Kupang City, Jeffry Edward Pelt, heads of relevant regional apparatus, sub-district heads and village heads throughout Kupang City, Heads of Community Health Centers throughout Kupang City and the work team for the vaccination and health promotion program of the Kupang City Health Service.

The Acting Mayor expressed his gratitude that the implementation of PIN Polio Level I in Kupang Town for 2024, which was planned for 23 to 29 July 2024, was done well and smoothly. The highest appreciation is given to the Kupang City Health Office, especially the entire team at the community health centers who have been working hard to implement PIN Polio Level I.

Thanks were also given for the coordination that existed at all levels, such as the Department of Education and Culture, sub-district and town leaders as well as the TNI/Polri who contributed to the implementation of PIN Polio. “This strong coordination and collaboration is key to our success in achieving the immunization coverage target. “We hope that our efforts to protect children from Polio will run smoothly and get the best results,” he said.

He further said that this monitoring and evaluation activity aims to evaluate the implementation of PIN Polio Phase I and prepare a plan for the implementation of PIN Polio Phase II. The hope is that through this meeting, the coverage target of at least 95 percent in each round of vaccination will be achieved, so that children aged 0-7 years 11 months 29 days in Kupang Town will have the protection from the Polio Virus.

He explained that Kupang City had implemented PIN Polio Phase I on July 23-29, 2024 with an achievement of 58.6 percent of the target of 74,641 children, meaning that the 95 percent coverage target was not achieved at this time. .

Therefore, he asked for eradication activities to be carried out till August 5, 2024 and continued implementation of PIN Polio Phase II from August 6 to 12, 2024. It is hoped that through well-coordinated cooperation between all relevant levels with systematic efforts, 95 percent coverage can be achieved.

Meanwhile, the committee chairman’s report was submitted by the Kupang City Health Service Chief, drg. Retnowati, that the general objective of implementing PIN Polio in Kupang Town is to prevent the spread of childhood Polio disease in Kupang Town by vaccinating children aged 0-7 years 11 months 29 days without to consider the previous vaccination status in Polio PIN which is done in 2 rounds.

At the same time, the specific goal is to achieve the target coverage of children in Kupang Town who will receive Polio vaccine of 95 percent of the target of 74,641 children for each round in Kupang Town. In addition, this activity was also carried out to prepare a strategic site plan for the implementation of the 2nd round of PIN Polio in Kupang Town.

The expected outcome of the monitoring and evaluation implementation is to agree on efforts to achieve the round I Polio PIN coverage target for each sub-district target and the validity of the number of targets. In addition, the PIN Polio round II strategy was agreed upon and the results of the implementation of the PIN Polio round II were obtained and reported by each sub-district or health center. ***
