At the head of the largest hospital in the Kankan region for almost a year, Dr Adrourahmane Djoutou Diallo and his team are working hard to improve the reception and services offered to patients. During the past year, several initiatives have been undertaken and carried out to the delight of patients and visitors. At least that is what the acting director general of the Kankan regional hospital confided during an interview with the correspondent of Djely in Upper Guinea.
It is the most coveted hospital center by the citizens of the 27 districts of the urban commune of Kankan, the 14 sub-prefectures and prefectures of the administrative region of Kankan. During the past year, actions have been carried out in its enclosure, explains doctor Abdrourahmane Djoutou Diallo. ” Our first job was to build a sorting center and referral for patients and visitors to the various hospital departments. It is afterwards, the team which takes care of all that is related to the accompaniment of the patients so that they no longer take the time before the care. We had installed solar panels in several departments of the hospital. This means that nowadays we have electric current 24 hours a day. Afterwards, we turned to the shortcomings of certain services and we restored rooms in several services such as care and dermatology. Two rooms at the ENT service level have been widely equipped and the laundry service, long forgotten, has been restored », He explained.
Speaking of the impact of the coronavirus on the resources gathered, Dr Diallo – although having no data in hand – specifies: ” The difference in admissions between 2019 and 2020 is not large enough. When the Covid-19 started, people deserted but with the awareness raising, they regained confidence and returned to the hospital ».
For the new year, the interim general manager and his team have an operational action plan that they intend to carry out. And there are many ambitions: “ We will fight to ensure the extension of certain services, such as pediatrics, maternity. We will also fight so that the care service for PLWHIV meets the criteria of a good room, where these people will be comfortable. ».
According to patients and visitors, interviewed on site by Ledjely.com, the new authorities have made very visible changes in this hospital located in the Energy district, in the urban commune of Kankan.
