The act of Middle Eastern immigrants at the peak makes the Bogor Regent feel embarrassed

The presence of Middle Eastern immigrants in tourist areas Puncak, Bogor, West Java, made the Regent of Bogor, Ade Yasin, uncomfortable. Ade Yasin said the number of Middle Eastern immigrants in Puncak currently reaches 1,690 people and disrupts tourism activities.

“Because it is increasing day by day, even now the number is reaching 1,690’s. This is very disturbing for our tourism and tourists who will come to Puncak,” said Ade Yasin through his statement, Thursday (18/3/2022).

This was stated by Ade Yasin while attending the launch of the 2021 Indonesian Ombudsman Annual Report, as well as a public discussion on the role of the Indonesian Ombudsman in the implementation of public supervision. Ade asked for the support of all parties to find solutions to overcome immigrants in Puncak.

Ade termed immigrants as ‘refugees’. Ade said the refugees were placed in Puncak and without work. They are called disturbing the surrounding community.

“When these refugees were placed the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Peak, they were placed there with no work, no cultivable land. Finally became unemployed. There are also those that end up disturbing the surrounding community,” he said.

“Perhaps with the assistance of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia, perhaps the competent ministry will be more open. Our suggestion is that we move it to a location where it is accommodated and also given land for growing crops,” he explained.

Ade said that controlling immigrants could not be carried out only with the Bogor Regency Satpol PP and the local police. Control requires careful coordination with immigration authorities.

Ade admitted that he did not know how the refugees arrived in Indonesia, but what he does know is that the number of immigrants continues to grow. Ade’s desire to move the immigrants is because the Puncak area is already too crowded and traffic jams often occur.

“If you can, Bogor Regency” want it (immigrants) were moved from there,” he said.

Ade also asked the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to check immigrants in Indonesia Peak to see if it’s legal. He hopes immigrants there do not continue to grow.
