The ministry estimated that the cost of compensation for gas sellers will amount to approximately PLN 10 billion. “The lion’s share will be won by PGNiG, which will additionally receive a credit line for PLN 20 billion and even 30 billion state guarantees for debt“- Leszek Kadej lists on the website Wysokienapiecie.pl.
The project provides, inter alia, expanding the catalog of entities covered by tariff protection until December 31, 2023 by some categories of recipients, including hospitals, schools, nurseries, kindergartens and night shelters. At the same time it introduces a compensation mechanism for natural gas sellers, which would be used to compensate for the effects of the price freeze on the extended list of tariff customers. The draft also emphasizes the need for tariff protection of natural gas consumers in multi-unit buildings.
Compensation payments are to be handled by the Price Difference Payment Fund, and the proposed solutions may be used by, inter alia, about 7 million households and even 40,000 cooperatives and housing communities.
“PGNiG OD will probably collect most of the 10 billion compensation pool. The daughter company of the national champion serves at least 80 percent of individual recipients, but it is not known how many municipal institutions that will switch to tariffs are its customers” – we read on the portal.
