The ACS Group: World-renowned Stadium Construction and Engineering Company

The stadiums have transcended their original function. We are talking about multidisciplinary infrastructures that, in addition to hosting a wide variety of activities, have become authentic symbols of their cities and first-class tourist attractions. Whether you are a sports fan or not, surely you have heard of Madison Square Garden or Yankee Stadium. What you probably don’t know is that they have a Spanish stamp and have been built by the ACS Group, which has built some of the most emblematic stadiums in the world through subsidiaries such as Turner, Hochtief or Dragados.

Turner’s SoFi Stadium, the jewel of Los Angeles

It may not be the best known, but it will undoubtedly remain etched in the retina of sports fans. With a capacity for 70,000 spectators, what is known as the “Jewel of Los Angeles” has become the most valuable sports venue in the world (the initial investment was close to 5,000 million dollars) and the largest in the NFL. It was developed by Turner, the American subsidiary of the ACS Group, and has become an engineering prodigy thanks to its disruptive exterior design.

The Olympic Games and the World Cup are played at ACS’s home

SoFi will be the stadium in charge of hosting the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2028 Olympic Games and will also be one of the five venues built by ACS for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be held in the US, Mexico and Canada. The remaining four venues, all built by Turner, are Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, Seattle’s Lumen Field, Kansas City’s Arrowhead and San Francisco’s Levi’s Stadium, all with a capacity of more than 67,000 fans. Precisely, the last of these venues is the headquarters of the San Francisco 49ers, which has been awarded multiple times thanks to the sustainable construction standards carried out by ACS.

New York place of worship

The most devoted have dubbed the stadium of the Knicks as the “Mecca of basketball.” In 2013, it underwent a comprehensive renovation that lasted 41 months without interrupting the activity of a stadium where not only the Knicks and Rangers play, but which has also hosted performances by Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra and, of course, by Julio Iglesias. Even Pope Francis said a mass at Madison in 2015. The stadium today has a congress center, cinema, theater and sports field.

Also in New York, the ACS Group has built, through Turner, the New York Yankees stadium, and has recently announced that it will be in charge of building the first professional soccer stadium in the city. It will be that of New York City (a team in which David Villa was a member), which will have a budget of 710 million euros, capacity for 25,000 spectators and will also contribute to revitalizing the Queens environment with the construction of 2,500 homes, a new school public for 650 students and a hotel.

New home of the Buffalo Bills

It is one of the most recent novelties of the Spanish multinational, which has just kicked off the construction of the new Bills stadium with a symbolic ceremony in which the first stone of the project has been laid. The New Highmark Stadium will have a capacity for 63,000 people, has a budget of 1,400 million euros and will be ready to host matches in 2026. Like the previous ones, it will also be developed by Turner, which has become the world’s leading reference in regarding the construction of sports facilities.

Turner leads the renewal of the NBA

Basketball unleashes passions in the United States and some of the biggest franchises in the league are opting to renovate their facilities to provide a new experience for their fans. This is the case of the Los Angeles Clippers and the Sacramento Kings, who have trusted Turner to create their new temples. The impressive Intuit Dome of the Clippers, which is a few meters from SoFi, will open next year and will be able to hold up to 18,000 spectators, a capacity very similar to that of the Golden 1 Credit Union Center of the Kings, which has some unique characteristics as it is the first covered enclosure in the country that has obtained the highest energy certification. In addition, it is the most connected sports and entertainment building in the world.
