The Acropolis Museum participates in the International Museum Day (18-19/5) – 2024-05-11 16:44:31

Every year May 18th is dedicated to museums that welcome the public with free admission.

One of the most popular museums in the world, the Acropolis Museum, is participating in this year’s International Museum Day, on Saturday 18 May 2024 and Sunday 19 May 2024, with the following actions:

Saturday, May 18, 2024:

On Saturday 18 May 2024, the Museum will be open from 9am to 8pm with free entry for all visitors. The second floor restaurant will be open until midnight (phone reservations 210 9000915).

As every Saturday in the morning hours, visitors will be able to watch the thematic presentation “Saturday at the Museum with 20+1 masterpieces”. It is a walk through the exhibition spaces of the Museum, during which myths and legends, beliefs and traditions, historical landmarks and human stories are transformed into art and weave a unique experiential experience.

Sunday, May 19, 2024:

On Sunday 19 May 2024, the Museum will be open from 9am to 8pm with a regular general admission ticket. The same hours will also work
restaurant.

In addition, as part of this year’s International Museum Day theme “Museums, Education and Research”, families with children aged 6-12 years will have the opportunity to take part in an adventure within its exhibition spaces entitled “A mystery… asks its solution”. The young friends of the Museum take on the role of detectives and, with the help of their guardians and the Museum’s archaeologists, look for the solution to a fantastic mystery that will save the Panathenaic festival.

Learning is woven through the game, the Panathenaia and the legend of the Giant Battle “come alive” unfolding all their dimensions and symbolism and the Museum becomes an entertainment space.

Times: Sunday 19/5 at 10 am and at 1 p.m.

Duration: 90 minutes

Cost: A day ticket for adults and a zero ticket for children is a necessary condition.

Registration: Through online booking at events.theacropolismuseum.gr Participation instructions: It is recommended to register for the program before purchasing a ticket. Group registrations (over 10 people) are not possible. Up to 30 visitors per presentation.
