This year, Petr Kolář surprised us with a new record called Tajný lísta, because he sang it only with acoustic accompaniment. “A person of my age simply does not like so much noise anymore. When we play in churches, the atmosphere is nicer and more open, and the text and message are heard more. I can’t imagine us making noise with electricity there.”
Why does the Secret Places tour take place mainly in churches? “The manager and I have been devising this concept for a long time. Even though I don’t usually go to church, I like them. In addition, I am baptized and the space breathes a certain calmness on me. A lot of people at concerts sit in the pews, so we try to get them singing and dancing too. I do it as a form of such humble entertainment.’
Part of the proceeds go towards repairs
His concerts helped a number of churches. “We always give part of the proceeds to the repairs of the given church. We choose places that are forgotten, that the church does not care about. Or they are in private hands and someone fixes them because they care. I had no idea that there were so many dilapidated little churches that needed to be repaired.”
“They are secret places for me, but actually also for the people who come there. Those places are often far from the city and you have to drive there. I always ask people at concerts if it meant anything to them. Most of the time, people will tell you that they do and that they are happy. A person goes abroad and discovers the world, and at the same time there is such beauty behind the hummocks.”

The romance of the clip Secret places
The new record also includes the song of the same name, Secret places, for which the well-known singer shot a romantic video clip. There is a lot of nature, romance and fire in the clip.
“Water, air, fire are elements that influence us and give us something. One should take from it what is good for him. But who will actually tell you? One has to somehow mature for that, usually it is age. But the truth is that some don’t even grow up to it with age, because they don’t have a relationship with it,” adds Alex and a guest in the program.
