1. Seeing Close-Up Objects

The mechanism of the accommodation power of the eye is very dependent on the ciliary muscle which acts as the shape of the eye lens.

When we look at a close distance, the eye’s ciliary muscle contracts and relaxes the fibers that attach to the crystal sheath of the lens.

As a result, it will make the flexible lens become curved or convex thicker.

The light is then refracted so strongly that the near light can still fall on the retina and be seen clearly. When looking at an object up close, it will be in full accommodation.

2. Seeing Remote Objects

After looking at close-up objects and then switching to far ones, the lens shape must be adjusted. The convex lens of the eye will prevent distant eye rays from reaching the retina.

The ciliary muscle relaxes, making the lens flatter, some even becoming very thin.

In this thin form, the eye lens will be at minimal power and can only refract light. As a result, the rays of distant objects can still fall right on the retina and be seen clearly.

Relaxation of the ciliary muscles will make the eyes become calmer and are at their minimum accommodation.
