On October 6, 2024, one of the most advanced cultural projects in the Ogre region – the production of the Ogre theater “Sanatorija” based on the play “Enemy of the People” by Henrik Ibsen, created especially for a hall history of the sanatorium. “Ogre” – his last performance was met with warm applause and horrors.
The production by director Jānis Kaijak has been performed 20 times since its premiere on October 30, 2022, gathering more than 2,000 spectators, attracting great interest from the audience, great applause, and receiving an Annual Award Ogre County in Culture 2022 in the “Innovation. “category.
As the director Jānis Kaijaks says: “The themes found in Ibsen’s play feel exciting and acute even today, because fundamentally, nothing has changed in society as Ibsen once saw it . But the play is not only about politics, there are themes of love, betrayal, and family closely connected, and the play will ask the question to all viewers: “But what would you do? What would be your choice?'”
The show’s creative team consisted of director Jānis Kaijaks, artist Ilze Kupča-Ziemele, lighting artist Oskars Pauliņš.
