The Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language Releases Arabic Translation of “Classical Literature”

The Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language – affiliated to the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, has issued the Arabic translation of the book “Classical Literature” as part of a series of brief introductions to the Kalima Translation Project.

The book, written by William Allan and translated into Arabic by Dr. Ahmed Al-Adawy, sheds light on the history of this literature for the time period extending from (750 BC to 500 AD). Despite the difficulty of the author’s task of covering a subject as broad and complex as classical literature in a brief study, he was able, over the course of only 125 pages, to adequately address this subject. As he skillfully collected a party from each art, and shed light on the development of the main literary genres in classical literature, with an analysis of the characteristics of each literary genre, especially the origins of the Greek tragedy.

The book is an enjoyable journey through time, in which the author accompanies the author to the era of epic writers, great poets, orators, historians, novelists, and playwrights, to see how our concepts of art and theater were formed earlier than we might think.
