The “heart attack” continues in real estate transfers and in Patras, where the Notarial Association decided yesterday Wednesday 13/12/2023 at the general assembly of its members, extension of the multi-day abstinence at least until January 10, 2024.

It is noted that the abstention of the notaries started on November 20th reacting to the way in which the digitization of notarial acts is progressing.
The abstention mainly concerns the conclusion of contracts by which real estate is transferred for any reason (purchases, sales, parental benefits, donations, etc.), as well as the abstention from the declarations submitted to the tax office, either electronically or by mail.
As explained to “Peloponnisos” by the president of the club, Ioanna Bonelithe main demand of the sector remains the revocation of the announcement of an open international electronic tender of the Land Registry published at the beginning of November, for the “Electronic Real Estate Transfer File” project or the deletion from it of the section that refers to the so-called “digital contract”.
However, the announcement regarding the specific section cannot be withdrawn anymore because the tender has ended, but a public commitment or information can be made to the contractor that this part of the announcement that referred to the digital contract is not to be implemented.
The notarial associations request the withdrawal of the competition, because they have not been convinced by the verbal assurances of the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Constantinos Kyranakis, that this sub-project of the digital file will not be included in the overall project, and indeed by an international competition.
As Ms. Boneli points out, the industry is one of the first to adopt the digital transformation in notarial procedures, however, the paper original contract and its lifetime signature is the only way that can guarantee the security of transactions.
