The absolute bottom! The former elite tennis player broke a sad record – Sport.cz

China has six female tennis players, including world number seven and Olympic champion Cheng Chin-wen, in the top 100. Last January, Shuai Chang was one of the biggest stars in the world’s second most populous country.

However, all that is long gone. Today, the tennis player, thirty-five, is struggling in the tennis forest, when she is ranked at the end of the seventh hundred. And that is a sad end to the career of a player who played in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open or Wimbledon.

However, the player’s tennis hell, which was once a terror for every opponent, is gaining momentum. The ongoing tournament in Cincinnati, where she was not good enough against Schneider of Russia in the first round, did not change anything.

Certainly the defeat of the world number 20 would not be so bad if it was not her 22nd loss in a row, breaking the 24-year-old ATP record of American Vince Spade, among other things. Among the women, the unsolicited priority was held by the Dutch Russian, who, however, collected “only” eighteen failures in a row.

Shuai Zhang’s frightening statistics began to be written on the second day of February 2023, when she lost to the Belgian Zanevska in the second round of the tournament in Lyon. Since then, she has participated in 21 more tournaments, always packing her bags after the opening duel. Czechs Petra Kvitová, Tereza Martincová and Karolína Plíšková, among others, have added to the formidable line of tennis players.

At least some joy in the darkness of tennis is given to the former world number two in doubles matches Shuai Chang, where he maintains a slightly negative balance of 21:22.
