The abandoned Dutch ship is finally being towed to port. How did the crew evacuate?

The abandoned ship “Eemslift Hendrika” in the rescue operation has managed to control the tugs and is currently being towed to port.

The ship’s crew of 12 people was rescued by a helicopter during a strong storm late Monday night. Eight of the crew were lifted immediately from the deck, but four were evacuated from the water.

The Norwegian Coastal Administration launched a rescue operation on Wednesday as the weather improved as it became clear that the drifting vessel could hit the shore.

Given the significant amount of fuel in the ship’s tanks, this could also lead to an environmental disaster. On Wednesday evening, the Norwegian maritime authorities issued an emergency alert and began preparations in the event of an oil spill.
