Indeed, a heavy vehicle had an accident Tuesday evening around 10 p.m., in the direction of Niort, between exits 9 (Niort west) and 10 (Niort north). Result : traffic was stopped on the section in both directions.
About forty calves in the wild
The truck lay down on the tracks “for an undetermined reason”, specifies in a press release the manager of the highway. Inside his trailer, about forty calves: they escaped on the tracks. “The teams have found and collected some of the calves to then load them into a new livestock trailer.” However, another part of the load is missing, which explains why the section is still closed at 9 a.m. It will probably remain so for several hours.
At the same time, the Vinci Autoroutes teams dispatched a crane to the site “to raise the trailer of the heavy goods vehicle”.
