Eleven years ago, Anke Buckinx exchanged the Maasmechelen resorts for Hasselt, now home to the radio presenter and her friend Tom, daughter Lou (6) and son Max (2). “Coincidentally, an artist came on our radio this week and told us how much she liked performing in Hasselt. I immediately understood that because I have also considered Hasselt as an open and above all warm city for years. When I come to Antwerp for my work at Joe, I have the feeling that I have to be hip right away (laughs). As a child I regularly heard that Hasselt was a ‘chichi’ city, but that has never been the case for me. Hasselt is the place where I can really be myself and where I have discovered many favorite places over the years.”
