The 8 Best Rooftop Terraces in New York

New York is a city that we always enjoy discovering or rediscovering. One of the experiences not to be missed is undoubtedly having a drink on a terrace located on the roof of one of the buildings to soak up the atmosphere and admire the magnificent view.

Here is the list of the eight best terraces on the roofs of buildings in New York, according to the JetSetter site.

1. Castell. Located in the Garment District, this bar is located on the roof of the AC Hotel New York Times Square. The cocktail menu pays homage to the martini, which is served in several forms in a contemporary setting. The Castell offers a magnificent view of Manhattan.

2. 1 Rooftop Garden & Bar, Dumbo Brooklyn. Across the East River, this rooftop hotel offers breathtaking views of the Brooklyn Bridge and downtown Manhattan. Sit down for a drink and cool off in the water basin, which is also on the roof. A selection of beers, cocktails and wines are offered in addition to some light dishes.

3. Ophelia. On the bank of the East River, this restaurant and bar opened atop a building that was built in 1928 and was originally a ladies-only hotel. Located on the 26th floor, the Ophelia offers a 360° panorama of the surroundings.

4. The Turf Club at William Vale. On the Brooklyn side, The Turf Club is located on the roof of the luxurious William Vale Hotel. The place is only open Friday through Sunday, and despite the $20 entrance fee, you can expect the place to be packed. People gather there at the end of the day to admire the sun disappearing behind the skyscrapers of Manhattan.

5. The Polynesian. In Midtown West, this thematic bar will know how to get away from it all. Although not located on the roof of the building, but rather on the third floor of the Pod Hotel, The Polynesian has an outdoor terrace that offers views of Times Square.

6. Arlo Roof Top. Recently reopened, this bar on the roof of the Arlo hotel is, it seems, worth the detour just for the view it offers on the Hudson River. If the rest interests you, they serve a selection of craft beers, cocktails and, in the warmer months, small dishes.

7. Azul on the Rooftop. In Soho, the terrace of this bar allows customers to have an impressive 360° view of Lower Manhattan. Several cocktails are offered while tacos and Cuban sandwiches are also on the menu. From June to October, an outdoor cinema is organized once a week.

8. Broken Shaker at the Freehand Hotel. The Broken Shaker opened on the 18th floor of the brand new Freehand Hotel a few months ago. The house cocktails were sorted into four categories: “Lost in New York”, “Miami Vibes”, “Friendship Cocktails” and “Somewhere in Between”.
