Two cars collided head-on on Thursday at 10.30 pm on Schaffhauserstrasse in Neunkirch.
A 71-year-old motorist was injured. There was also significant property damage to both cars involved in the crash.
The driver of the car, a 26-year-old man, was found driving his vehicle while unable to drive. The injured woman was transported to the hospital by rescue helicopter.
His driving license was confiscated on the spot. The public prosecutor of the canton of Schaffhausen has ordered a blood and urine test. The progress of the accident is under investigation.
In addition to the Schaffhausen police, about 20 firefighters from the Oberklettgau Military Service Association (WVO) were on duty. There were also two ambulance crews from hospitals in Schaffhausen. Also present is the crew of an Alpine Air Ambulance rescue helicopter and a private towing service.
