The elderly man who was hit by a car in the Burgas village of Debelt while walking on the sidewalk at the end of last year has died. This was reported by his relatives. 66-year-old Ivan Kurtev has been fighting for his life in the hospital for nearly two months, reports Bmt-news.bg.
We remind you that the incident happened on December 17, around 4:00 p.m., on Tsviatko Radoynov Street in the village of Debelt. After the collision, the car left the scene. Its owner, a 28-year-old man, was searched for and detained. He was drunk and never had a driver’s license.
However, according to witness statements, he was not driving the car, but tried to cover up his sister. It is now expected that the charge will be reclassified to an accident with a victim. However, who will be charged will become clear on Monday, when the prosecutor’s office promised to provide more details on the case.
Meanwhile, the villagers are demanding a stronger police presence. According to them, they witnessed the 28-year-old man driving dangerously more than once. The mayor of the village promised to cooperate in order to build “lying down policemen” on the street where the accident happened.
