The association Le Pélé VTT organizes mountain biking camps for teenagers from 11 to 15 years old.
A kind of pilgrimage by bike that these young people will accomplish, from Monday July 18 to Friday July 22, from Beaumont-les-Autels to Chartres Cathedral, approximately 120 km by mountain bike.
Father Silouane Deletraz, chaplain but also French cycling champion for priests, explains the process:
“There are seventy young people and sixty supervisors who will participate in this adventure. It is both a Marian pilgrimage for middle school students with four challenges: physical (self-transcendence), fraternal (living together), cultural (discovery of heritage on the road) and a spiritual journey. »
Four steps
The young participants had an appointment on Saturday morning in the parking lot of the Decathlon store in Mainvilliers to have their mountain bikes checked before the big start. Maurice Crespin, in charge of communication for Pélé VTT, points out:
“The store managers were kind enough to carry out these checks free of charge so that these young people could calmly cover the hundred kilometers planned during this five-day course. »
Pilgrim cyclists will leave from Beaumont-les-Autels to head first towards Authon-du-Perche then Thiron-Gardais. They will then pass through Courville-sur-Eure and join Luisant before arriving at their final stage, Notre-Dame de Chartres Cathedral.
