The 5-year-old girl who underwent a liver transplant at the end of April at the Fundeni Institute in the Capital died on Wednesday, News.ro reports.
“The girl who underwent a liver transplant on April 30 died on the evening of May 17, at 20:40, following the postoperative complications that appeared in the last days”, the Fundeni Institute transmitted on Wednesday.
The girl underwent a liver transplant on April 30. She received a portion of her liver from a 17-year-old brain-dead man.
On Monday, doctors announced that, after a period of favorable evolution, the girl’s clinical condition worsened, which necessitated another surgery, identifying “complications of biliary anastomosis”, which were corrected.
On Tuesday, representatives of the Fundeni Institute said that his condition remains extremely critical, still requiring sustained measures of intensive care.
