Not even the time to recover from the fresh emotions in the swimming pool of the Duna Arena in Budapest that immediately plunges us back into a second week of the World Swimming Championships which, as an appetizer, already promises just as well. The first taste in the open waters of the Hungarian capital is in fact more than tasty, because the 4×1500 meters mixed relay says that Italy still goes to the medal: this time it is bronze and it is number 10 in this edition. Thanks to the quartet composed of Ginevra Taddeucci, Giulia Gabbrielleschi, Domenico Acerenza and Gregorio Paltrinieri. The certainty of the podium comes immediately after the touch on the plate of the latter at the finish line, but for a few minutes there was also the hope of a silver against theHungary. Nothing to do, though: the photo finish confirms the hosts are right, thus placing themselves behind the Germania winner: 1h04: 40.50 the time set by the Germans, before the couple who fought for second place by 00:02:50. The fears for a tired Paltrinieri after yesterday’s gold were chased away after the performance of the Modenese in the last exchange. In the last meters, however, Florian Wellbrock’s sprint comes out, delivering the success to Germany, while in the final Super Greg barely catches the chance to become World Vice-champion in this specialty against the Hungarian Kristof Rasovszky.
