In Isère, a bus carrying 40 children went off the road on national road 85. The vehicle fell into a ravine. This transported children from Sceaux, in the Hauts-de-Seine, who were returning from a stay in the mountains. The accident injured around 20 people.

It was 8:45 a.m. this Saturday, when this bus carrying primary school students returning from summer camps went off the road, near Corps, in Isère. Within seconds, the vehicle fell and ended up in a ravine. In total, 21 injured including two serious, an accompanying person and the driver who would have felt unwell while driving. “The driver of the vehicle and his companion were seriously injured in the accident and transported to the CHU with a vital prognosis,” said the Grenoble prosecutor’s office, which opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

More fear than harm for children

18 children were also slightly injured, four of them were taken to hospital for observation. But more fear than harm, according to Philippe Laurent, mayor of Sceaux.

“It was a bit dramatized at the start of the morning. It was a bit difficult to know exactly what the situation was. We were told about children who were seriously injured and in fact, this was not the case. The bus stayed on its wheels, there was no crash or anything. All the children came out of the hospitals where they were visiting, “he summarizes. The 40 children reached Paris by train the same evening to find their family in Sceaux, around 11 p.m.
