The 365-euro youth ticket is coming – Main-Tauber region

The nationwide valid 365-euro ticket for young people up to the age of 27 in school, study or training should also come in the area of the Rhein-Neckar transport association and thus also in the Main-Tauber district.

Main Tauber district. There was praise everywhere at the district council meeting on Wednesday in the Tauberbischofsheim town hall. “That’s a really great story for sustainable public transport,” says District Administrator Christoph Schauder. Ute Schindler-Neidlein, leader of the SPD parliamentary group, described the envisaged offer as a “really good thing” and Rainer Moritz from the Alliance Greens spoke of the “right way”, even if it wasn’t the end.

The CDU also joined in the hymns of praise. Joachim Döffinger sees the 365-euro youth ticket as a “good step towards sustainable mobility”. dr At the state level, Wolfgang Reinhart spoke of the project being “born with pliers”, but rated this as an improvement in public transport, especially in rural areas, thanks to its state-wide validity.

consensus with Bavaria

For one euro a day, gondolas by bus and train throughout Baden-Württemberg is the message of the new ticket, which the state government plans to introduce in March next year. It is already a reality in the neighboring state of Bavaria, in Hesse seniors over 65 can also enjoy the state ticket. Other federal states, such as Lower Saxony, want to follow suit.

There is also good news for the Main Tauber district. Like the Maxx-Ticket, the 365-euro ticket is also valid across the state border into the directly adjacent region of the five Bavarian neighboring districts – in Würzburg, for example, to the main train station. “This is a really great negotiation success for the Main-Tauber district, for which I thank the Minister of Transport,” said the district administrator in the direction of Stuttgart.

However, the prerequisite for the introduction of the state-wide youth ticket is the approval of the bodies of the Rhein-Neckar transport association for the introduction and the state subsidy of 70 percent. The Main Tauber district would have to shoulder 30 percent of the costs. There are clear cost savings for families. So far, they have paid 560.40 euros for the Maxx ticket for their children from the fifth grade, of which the district pays 60 euros. The Main-Tauber-Kreis has so far fully borne the costs for primary school children and will continue to do so.

Parents save money

In the future, however, the district subsidy of five euros per month or 60 euros per year will no longer apply. Parents still save around 135 euros. Families in which two children already have an annual ticket and whose other children need one receive a full subsidy. From March they will then receive the nationwide youth ticket.

The additional costs for the district are given as 736,000 euros. It is to be financed on the one hand by the abolition of the previously paid subsidy of five euros per month, which amounts to 275,000 euros, and by the lower costs of the fully financed tickets, which means lower costs of 358,000 euros. Ultimately, one expects a probable increase in costs of 103,000 euros per year.
