The 33rd l’Alfàs del Pi Film Festival opens the call for its short film contest in February | Town hall of l’Alfàs del Pi

The next 22 February opens the deadline to participate in the 33 National Competition of Short Films of l’Alfàs del Pi, a contest open to Spanish producers and filmmakers of fiction films made during the years 2020 and 2021, which do not exceed 20 minutes in duration.

The mayor of Alfàs, Vicente Arques, today presented the contest rules at the Casa de Cultura, together with Manuel Casado, Councilor for Culture; Pebble dew, Councilor for Equality, and Jorge Orozco, member of the Film Festival organization.

May attend short films made over the years 2020 and 2021 that have not been presented in previous editions. Each author may submit a maximum of two short films.

“This is one of the national short film competitions that allocates the largest amount to its competitive section”, Vicente Arques recalled. This year 7,500 euros will be distributed in prizes. The Festival awards a first prize, endowed with 4,000 euros and Faro de Plata, a second prize of 2,000 euros and a third prize of 1,000 euros.

Likewise, the Festival awards an award for the best short film directed by women, in collaboration with the associations Erased Footprints of Woman Y CIMA (Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media). The prize, endowed with 500 euros and an award designed by Amparo Boluda, is chosen from the films that compete in the official section.

Non-financial awards are also awarded for Best Direction, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Cinematography.

In addition, the winning short may attend the Goya Awards in the category of Best National Fiction Short Film, as the Alfàs del Pi Film Festival was chosen by the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain to make the shortlist of candidates.

Number 33 Alfàs del Pi Film Festival will be held from 3 to 11 of July. A contest whose main mission is to promote cinema made in Spain and, especially, Spanish short films. For the mayor of l’Alfàs, “It is the most important cultural event of the year and also the one with the greatest promotion and impact, from the tourist point of view”.

The last edition of the Festival, marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, was more austere, with less budget and capacity, but more committed than ever to Spanish cinema since, despite the circumstances, The amount of the prizes was not reduced, 7,500 euros in total. “We wanted to celebrate it in person and for this, all the security measures and protocols were adopted necessary, confirming that the culture is safe ”, said the mayor.

The registration period ends on May 15

The deadline to participate in the 32nd National Short Film Competition of l’Alfàs del Pi will end next 15 th of May. A committee made up of representatives of the Film Festival will be in charge of selecting, among all the films received, those that will enter the competition.

In the last edition of the Festival, a total of 865 short from all over Spain, of which 24 competed in the Official Section, being the winner ‘Those who are silent‘, from Albert Folk.

Dfter 32 editions, the Alfàs del Pi Film Festival has managed to bring together renowned actors and actresses, directors, producers, technicians and scriptwriters from the national film scene in the municipality.
