The concert will feature works by the classics Johann Sebastian Bach, Frank Marten and Paul Hindemith, where each soloist can be heard separately. March 5 at The Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andris Poga, will take the stage of the festival together with the outstanding Latvian violinist Vineta Sareika to perform Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto together, where passion alternates with playfulness and calm peace.
Andris Dzenitis’ Second Symphony will have its world premiere tonight Warm windinspired by one of the brightest contemporary Latvian composers, drawing nature, long hikes along the Latvian coast.
March 6 at An evening of piano music is expected at the 18th festival with a performance by the world-famous Russian pianist Alexander Melnikov. The pianist, who has been living in Germany for many years, is going to Liepaja with a double feeling – already on the first day of the war he publicly condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, pointing out that the reddest of the red lines has been violated:

The prestigious British string quartet will close the festival next weekend Albion Quartet performance on March 10, as well as a concert by the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra with Ukrainian opera star Ludmila Monastirska on March 12.
The Liepāja International Star Festival will take place for the 30th time from March 4 to 12, and will bring together outstanding musicians of various genres in five concerts and offer premieres of new compositions.
