The Latvian national team will receive up to 426,862 euros for the gold medal won in the Tokyo Olympic Games in 3 × 3 basketball.
The regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers on the procedure for awarding cash prizes for outstanding achievements in sport and the amount of cash prizes provide that for the first place won in the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games and Deaf Games employees, including sports doctors and service staff (in total), are awarded cash prizes in the amount of 426,862 euros.
This amount is after taxes.
The final decision on awarding bonuses will still have to be made by the Cabinet of Ministers.
LETA has already reported that the Latvian 3 × 3 basketball team with Agni Čavars, Nauri Mieze, Kārlis Pauls Lasmanis and Edgars Krūmiņš won the team of the Russian Olympic Committee (OKR) and won gold medals in the final of the Tokyo Olympic Games on Wednesday.
Latvia beat the OKR team with 21:18.
