The Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux and Bordeaux Technowest are launching a call for applications for start-ups whose activity involves the various – and numerous – components of a commercial port.
Technoports, act 2. After the installation of the first four startups last fall, the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux (GPMB) and the Bordeaux Technowest technology park opened applications for the second promotion of Bordeaux Technoports, their shared incubator, on Tuesday morning. . Launched for three months, the call for projects targets young shoots evolving in the worlds of decarbonization, retrofitting, digital twins or the management of port ecosystems. “The idea is not to create volume, but rather to welcome three or four start-ups, as on the first promotion, on issues that are really in phase with those of the port”, specifies François Baffou, general manager of Bordeaux Technowest. , which made this announcement as part of Tech’Day, the day of meetings between startups, partners and local players organized by the technology park.
The port, which has made vacant and recently rehabilitated premises available near its headquarters in the Bacalan district, says it is delighted at the idea of extending the Technoports adventure. “We went towards something that we are not used to handling and it turns out that it works”, greets Jean-Frédéric Laurent, general manager of the GPMB, who was able to initiate collaborations with startups in the first promotion of Technoports: Optim.aize on the qualification of infrastructures likely to be the subject of decarbonization efforts, Netcarbon on the measurement of the carbon balance, or Molluscan, to monitor, thanks to biosensors, the quality of the water within the port ecosystem.
“The port, like large groups, needs new ideas, and therefore needs to find innovations that they can test in their own environment,” he adds. This issue is all the more pressing since the GPMB has made the greening of its activities a strategic priority. “More than two-thirds of our business is carbon-related. We must therefore imperatively mutate with the economic fabric that surrounds us”, said Jean-Frédéric Laurent a little earlier in the day, during a round table dedicated to the decarbonization of industry.
An upcoming convention between Bordeaux Technowest and UIMM
It will be formalized in October during the UAV Show, but the content was revealed on Tuesday: Bordeaux Technowest is preparing to sign an agreement with the UIMM Gironde-Landes. Stated objective: to create new bridges between the incubated start-ups and the industrial fabric of the territory, to facilitate the scaling up of innovative solutions. “The UIMM has this culture, workshops, equipment, as well as a very rich network of SMEs and SMIs, which interests us a lot for our startups, especially from deeptech”, comments François Baffou.
