The largest walking football tournament to date Lower Rhine Football Association (FVN) casts its shadow ahead. On the square of the TSV Norf in Neuss on Tuesday, October 3rd (Day of German Unity), from 11.30 a.m. the “2. Neusser Walking Football Cup”.
“With seven participating teams in the age groups over 50 and over 60, we are organizing the largest walking football tournament in the FVN to date,” says Winfried Titze, member of the Association Football Committee and the Grassroots Football Commission. “Ambitious teams from Westphalia and the Middle Rhine are also following our invitation. We are very pleased about this because we are spreading the idea of walking football and the friendships associated with it widely.”
The tournament starts at 11:30 a.m. (The game plan can be downloaded here). The game is played in free-for-all mode. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place around 4:30 p.m. Referees are being used for the first time, having attended a course specifically designed for walking football at the Wedau sports school in August.
All-round program
The organizing club TSV Norf takes care of the catering. All participants can enjoy grilled goods, cakes and hot and cold drinks. “Perhaps a bike ride to the sports facility would be a good idea,” says Winfried Titze.
Remarkable: All proceeds from the event go to a family closely associated with TSV Norf, whose 21-year-old daughter has been suffering from a brain tumor for several years. All participants want to give her the opportunity to use the proceeds to fulfill a special wish.
